As the fires in Los Angeles rage on, I have been reflecting on the experience, grief, loss and trauma of living through natural disasters. As many creators I follow have mentioned, there are actual PTSD symptoms likely to occur for those who have gone through natural disasters that may not show up immediately.

While styling outfits has served as a distraction and creative outlet for me during the latest disasters, I chose to feature a California based brand, Jenni Kayne. Known for quality basics, sweaters among other clothing, the home collection is also beautiful. I was fortunate to visit their clothing and home stores in Brentwood Country Market as well as New York, and each one is beautiful.

Since this past summer, I have lived through part of our condo flooding from an unnamed storm, Hurricane Helene, followed immediately by Hurricane Milton. Before this year, I started college at Tulane University in the fall of 2006, just one year after Hurricane Katrina. I watched as the city took years to rebuild, so I have a good sense of the time frame it can take to come back.
